Hung Vuong Museum (Department of Culture and Tourism)

Tran Phu Street, Gia Cam Ward, Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province

Hung Vuong Museum is situated on Tran Phu Street, along the shores of Van Lang Park – the central area of Viet Tri City.

The museum is likened to a “historical chronicle in artifacts,” designed to resemble the traditional stilt house architecture of the Northern region. It represents a unique combination of modern and traditional architecture, specifically the Dong Son cultural characteristic with a boat-shaped roof, four sides covered in red tiles, surrounded by tall, slender columns and a staircase at the front, creating a majestic and elegant appearance that stands out in the urban architectural system of Viet Tri City.

The exhibition house is designed with three floors, covering an area of 9,000m2, equipped with various facilities to best serve the display in a scientific and modern direction. It is regarded as one of the most beautiful and modern museums in the Northern provinces. Located in the central position of the ancient Van Lang capital, Hung Vuong Museum carries a vast historical and cultural treasure with over 12,000 artifacts vividly depicting the history and development of Phu Tho province from the time of Hung Vuong founding the nation to the present day.

When visiting one of the two Hung Vuong Museums in Phu Tho province, a diverse array of international and domestic tourists, especially students, will explore the exhibited artifacts in a chronological order, from prehistoric times to the present day. They will witness stone tools from the early days of human civilization, providing a comprehensive overview of the topography, natural beauty, as well as the cultural and spiritual richness of the mountainous midland community in Phu Tho.

The historical artifact collection vividly reproduces the lives of ancient Vietnamese residents to the achievements of the people of Phu Tho during the economic recovery, socialist construction, and the era of innovation.

Moreover, there are many unique artifacts and collections such as the collection of jewelry from the Phung Nguyen era, the collection of Dong Son bronze drums, and the collection of ceramics from the Ly, Tran, Le, Nguyen dynasties, all with historical, cultural, and aesthetic value carefully chosen by Hung Vuong Museum for display to meet the research and exploration needs of historians, scholars, and visitors from both within and outside the country.

Impressive architecture, rich exhibition content, and unique artifacts are the distinguishing features of Hung Vuong Museum, providing visitors with an extremely fascinating experience and making it an essential stop in the journey to explore the heritage land of Phu Tho.
