Phu Tho Welcomes International Tourists by Waterway
A group of 20 tourists from the United Kingdom, Australia, Norway, and the United States, along with members of the Pandaw Cruise Company, marks the first international tourist group to visit Phu Tho after a prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On September 16, the Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism of Phu Tho Province organized a program to welcome an international tourist group arriving by waterway to explore the local attractions.
The group, consisting of 20 tourists from the UK, Australia, Norway, and the US, traveled with members of the Pandaw Cruise Company. Viet Tri City served as one of the stops on their Vietnam tour route via waterway, starting from Ha Long Bay (Quang Ninh Province) and concluding in Hoa Binh City (Hoa Binh Province).
In Viet Tri City, the group visited the ancient Hung Lo communal house complex, enjoyed a performance of the traditional Xoan singing in the ancient village, explored the ancient village’s ambiance, traditional houses, and the rice noodle-making craft in Hung Lo commune, Viet Tri City. They also experienced making traditional square sticky rice cakes in Hung Lo commune and toured the conical hat-making craft village of Gia Thanh in Phu Ninh District.
This marks the first tourist group to visit Phu Tho after a prolonged impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, signifying the return to normalcy in international tourism activities within the province. It contributes to affirming Phu Tho as a safe and attractive tourist destination.
This event also serves as motivation to boost the province’s tourism sector, focusing more on allocating resources for the development of unique and appealing tourism products to attract visitors.
As the COVID-19 situation has been basically controlled, Viet Tri City has focused on developing tourist destinations, improving the quality of the Xoan singing cultural tourism products at Lai Len Temple and Thet Communal House in Kim Duc commune, Hung Lo Communal House in Hung Lo commune, and An Thai Temple and Forbidden Temple in Phuong Lau commune.
In 2021, the city proactively exploited and enhanced the quality of current tourism products, such as “Spiritual Tourism Associated with Cultural Heritage,” “Ancient Village Xoan Singing,” and destinations in the “Viet Tri City Tour,” welcoming and serving tourists for sightseeing. The organization of performances and basic guiding explanations meets the needs of tourists.
Viet Tri City, situated at the confluence of three major rivers—the Lo River, the Hong River, and the Da River—has a highly developed waterway transportation system with significant potential to exploit waterway tourism routes featuring attractive destinations such as Tam Giang Temple, Dai Bi Pagoda in Bach Hac Ward, Hung Lo Communal House (Hung Lo Commune), Historical Monument Zone of the Hung Kings Temple, Thien Co Temple, and Lai Len Temple.
